Banner Community Program - ALOM

Thank you to all of the municipalities that participated in the 2017 Banner Community Program.
This year’s program was a huge success and resulted in 51 communities earning the Banner Community designation – an all-time high!  Click here to view and download the 2018 Banner Community Program Application.

These municipalities earned the designation of a Banner Community by distinguishing themselves as model communities through a commitment to sustainable practices including professional development, intergovernmental cooperation, sound fiscal management and proactive communications to engage community stakeholders.

As a result of a new strategic partnership with Herbert, Rowland and Grubic, a special recognition luncheon was held in conjunction with the press announcement by Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald.    In addition, 2017 Banner Community designees were eligible for scholarships for future professional development opportunities such as the ALOM Spring Educational Conference as a recognition of efforts to promote best practices at the local government level.  Scholarships were randomly drawn at this year’s conference and were awarded to Bellevue Borough, Indiana Township, Kilbuck Township, Monroeville and Pine Township.

ALOM is pleased to announce that the 2018 Banner Community Program application window is now open.  Program applications will be accepted through January 31, 2018.  We encourage you to seek the Banner Community designation for your municipality and to remain committed to sound governing principles. Together we will work to strengthen our communities and will be recognized as a standard for excellence!
