Thank you to all of the municipalities that participated in the 2019 Banner Community Program. This year, the program was expanded to include municipal authorities and resulted in a record 69 communities earning Banner Community designation. The 2019 Banner Communities were announced on March 8, 2019. In March, a special recognition luncheon was hosted by Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald to recognize program participants.  In addition, through a partnership with HRG Engineering, Banner Community designees were eligible for scholarships for future professional development opportunities such as the ALOM Spring Educational Conference as a recognition of efforts to promote best practices at the local government level.  Scholarships were randomly drawn at this year’s conference and were awarded to  Castle Shannon, Crafton, Edgeworth, Harrison, Mt. Lebanon, Oakmont, Pitcairn, Plum, Ross & Whitehall. .

The 2020 Banner Community Application for municipalities and authorities are now available.  The application reflects efforts undertaken by a municipal government during the 2019 calendar year.   Applications may be submitted to bannercommunity@alleghenyleague.org at any time from now until the deadline of January 24, 2020.
